Experiencing Downtown LA

I would never thought I would walk through DTLA streets but Art has brought a different courage to explore and find your soul. I would normally go a few places to go a day ( saving time and parking fee)

 1. Rain room and Penetrable @ LACMA

Random International’s Rain Room (2012) is an immersive environment of perpetually falling water that pauses wherever a human body is detected. The installation offers visitors an opportunity to experience what is seemingly impossible: the ability to control rain. Rain Room presents a respite from everyday life and an opportunity for sensory reflection within a responsive relationship.

Let’s talk numbers here. The ceiling are made of 1600 tile-like squares, each packed with 36 tiny sprinkler-nozzles releasing rain. Across the wet floor, there are essentially a 1,500-square-foot metal drain, to the pitter-patter of the rainfall. The Rain Room uses about 528 gallons of water, being recycled throughout the exhibition. It is always a roughly six-foot radius of dry clearing around each person while there’s still water pouring all around. The 10 3D camera helps capture and detect any body motions to create  both haunting and strikingly beautiful installation.

2. Infinity room @ The Broad Museum: 45 seconds of starring lights

Created by Yayoi Kusama, a mirror-lined chamber is housing a dazzling and seemingly endless LED light display, located on the 1st floor of the museum. It is built with wood and metal frame, surrounded by glass mirrors and water on the ground level. The 113 1/4 x 163 1/2 x 163 1/2 in room is filled with LED lights hanging from the ceiling. As the multitude of lights reflect, they accumulate and expand exponentially. The collaboration between glass mirrors and water create a multiple replica of reflected lights in such depth for audience to experience the definition of infinity, the souls of millions of light years away.

3. Walt Disney Concert Hall by Frank Gehry

Designed by architect Frank Gehry, Walt Disney Concert Hall (WDCH) is an internationally recognized architectural landmark and one of the most acoustically sophisticated concert halls in the world.

From the stainless steel curves of its striking exterior to the state-of-the-art acoustics of the hardwood-paneled main auditorium, the 3.6-acre complex embodies the unique energy and creative spirit of the city of Los Angeles and its orchestra.

4. The Last Bookstore

A very artistic classic style bookstore located in heart of downtown Los Angeles. Walking through the two stories, you will experience through different genres of knowledge from punky of the 70s to magical mysterious of Harry Potter.

Stacks of  old books might be separated with  new books but stories behind those pages  are inspirational lessons us throughout lives.

5. Angel Wings by Collett Miller @ Art District

A global project is pursued by an Australian artist Collett Miller to remind humanity on this Earth.

Until next time
